atassatyaṃ nikāmaṃ vai vada devi manoratham | mamāgre vipravaryasya sarvānaṃdapradasya hi
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
The verse highlights satya (truthfulness) and inner sincerity as prerequisites for receiving Shiva’s grace; in Shaiva Siddhanta, honest self-offering before Pati (Shiva) ripens the soul toward ānanda and liberation.
It reflects Saguna Shiva’s compassionate, accessible role: the devotee is urged to openly express intention (saṅkalpa) before Shiva (often worshiped as the Liṅga), where truthful resolve and devotion are central to fruitful worship.
A clear saṅkalpa made with truthfulness—followed by simple Shiva-upāsanā such as japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and offering with a pure mind—aligns the devotee’s intention with Shiva’s bestowal of ānanda.
