It teaches that even perfected understanding is fulfilled through humble devotion—prayer is not ignorance, but a conscious act of surrender that invites Shiva’s anugraha (grace) to ripen spiritual results for others.
The verse supports Saguna-upasana: even when one knows the highest truths, one still approaches Shiva in a personal, worshipful way—through prayer to the Lord who compassionately responds to devotees and makes their aims “saphala” (fruitful).
A simple takeaway is prārthanā with bhakti—offer heartfelt supplication while doing Shiva japa (especially the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and dedicate the fruit for the welfare of others.
