तृतीयनेत्राग्निनिवृत्तिः / Quelling the Fire of the Third Eye
Vāḍava Fire Placed in the Ocean
सुप्रणम्याथ मां सिंधुस्संस्तूय च यथा विधि । स मामुवाच सुप्रीत्या सर्वलोकपितामहम्
supraṇamyātha māṃ siṃdhussaṃstūya ca yathā vidhi | sa māmuvāca suprītyā sarvalokapitāmaham
ثم انحنى السِّندهو (المحيط) لي بسجودٍ عميق، وأثنى عليّ وفق الشعيرة الواجبة؛ وبفرحٍ عظيم تكلّم إليّ ذلك الجدُّ لكلّ العوالم.
Suta Goswami (narrating the Parvati Khanda account to the sages, quoting the scene)
Tattva Level: pashu
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga passage; it foregrounds yathā-vidhi stuti—ritual correctness as a vehicle for receiving grace.
Significance: Affirms that proper praise (stuti) and humility align the devotee with divine order, preparing for instruction/boon.
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
It highlights that true spiritual communication and divine favor arise after humility (deep prostration) and disciplined devotion (yathā-vidhi), showing that reverence and right worship prepare the heart for higher instruction.
The phrase yathā-vidhi points to worship performed with scriptural order—exactly the spirit of Saguna Shiva/Linga-upāsanā in the Shiva Purana, where devotion is strengthened by correct ritual conduct and heartfelt stuti.
Perform namaskāra/prostration followed by stuti in a rule-based way (vidhi), and then receive/reflect on the teaching—an approach aligned with Shaiva practice where mantra-japa and worship are supported by humility and orderly observance.
