Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Vīrabhadra
Cosmic Event: earth-tremor omen (bhūkampana)
It portrays the asuric temperament—noise, pride, and force that disturb the harmony of the world—contrasted with Shiva’s role as Pati who ultimately restores dharma and inner order.
The narrative tension created by Tāraka’s assault prepares the devotional need for Saguna Shiva’s protective grace—Shiva’s manifest power that safeguards the cosmos when it is shaken by adharma.
As a practical takeaway, devotees may steady the mind amid “world-shaking” turmoil by japa of the Panchākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—and by cultivating calm, non-violent resolve aligned with Shiva’s dharma.
