Narration of Kārttikeya’s Divine Play
तन्मनोगतिमाज्ञाय सर्वास्ताः कृत्तिकास्तदा । तमादाय ययुर्लोकं स्वकीयं मुदिता मुने
tanmanogatimājñāya sarvāstāḥ kṛttikāstadā | tamādāya yayurlokaṃ svakīyaṃ muditā mune
أيها الحكيم، عندئذٍ أدركت جميع أمهات الكِرِتّيكَا رغبة الطفل الكامنة في قلبه، فحملنه بفرحٍ ومضين إلى عالمهنّ الخاص.
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
It highlights how inner intention (manogati) is recognized and supported by divine agencies; in a Shaiva frame, grace aligns circumstances so the soul’s sincere movement toward dharma is nurtured.
Though not directly about the Liṅga, it supports Saguna Shiva devotion by portraying Shiva’s sacred family-līlā: the divine child (Kumāra) is protected and guided, reinforcing personal devotion to Shiva’s manifest forms and attendants.
A practical takeaway is inward prayer and sankalpa (clear devotional intention) before japa—especially pañcākṣarī mantra japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—trusting that sincere inner resolve is met by Shiva’s grace.
