Description of Śiva Meditation and Worship
kāraṇaṃ sarvalokānāṃ sarvalokamayaṃ param | antarbahiḥ sthitaṃ vyāpya hyaṇoralpaṃ mahattamam
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It declares Shiva as Pati—the supreme, all-pervading Cause who is both immanent (present as all worlds) and transcendent (param). Realization of this truth loosens pāśa (bondage) and leads the paśu (bound soul) toward moksha.
The Linga is worshipped as the sign of the formless, all-pervading Shiva: though beyond attributes, He is approached through a tangible sacred form. This verse supports Saguna worship as a doorway to recognizing Nirguna Shiva who pervades within and without.
Meditate on Shiva as dwelling both inside the heart and pervading the universe while repeating the Panchakshara (Om Namah Shivaya). Linga-dhyana and vibhuti (Tripundra) remembrance can be used to stabilize this all-pervading awareness.
