Sarga 93: Rāvaṇa’s Grief and Fury after Indrajit’s Fall; Move to Slay Vaidehī and Ministerial Restraint
हनूमतस्तुतद्वाक्यं न कृतंक्षुद्रयामया ।।।।यद्यहंतस्यपृष्ठेवतदायासमनिर्जिता ।नाद्यैवमनुशोचेयंभर्तुरङ्कगतासती ।।।।
hanūmatas tu tad-vākyaṃ na kṛtaṃ kṣudrayā mayā | yadi ahaṃ tasya pṛṣṭhe vai tadā yāsam anirjitā | na adyaivam anuśoceyaṃ bhartur aṅka-gatā satī ||
لقد كنتُ وضيعةَ الرأي، فلم أعمل بقول هانومان. لو أنّني يومئذٍ مضيتُ جالسةً على ظهره، لوصلتُ حقًّا غيرَ مغلوبة؛ ولما كنتُ اليوم أندب هكذا، بل لكنتُ، زوجةً عفيفة، مستقرّةً في حجر زوجي.
'I am a foolish woman. I did not follow Hanuman's advice and had I left mounted on his back, no doubt I would be on my husband 's lap. I did not think in this way'.
Dharma is linked to wise discernment and timely action: ignoring good counsel can deepen suffering; admitting error truthfully (satya toward oneself) is also a moral act.
Sītā reflects on Hanumān’s earlier offer to carry her away; she regrets refusing and now laments her continued captivity and fear.
