Body having auspicious marks, smeared with blood, Lakshmana experienced the joy of having won Indra in battle.
Dharma in warfare includes endurance and self-sacrifice: victory is meaningful when achieved despite wounds, for the protection of righteousness.
Immediately after Indrajit’s death, Lakṣmaṇa stands bloodied yet uplifted by the successful completion of his duty.
Fortitude—Lakṣmaṇa’s capacity to act decisively even while physically suffering.
