Huge troops of Vanaras holding trees and hillocks stood prepared for waging and by that the noise that arose expanded.
Readiness to protect a righteous cause must be coupled with discipline: even when startled, the vanaras organize themselves for defense and duty.
The vanara forces react to the enemy’s thunderous advance and take up positions with their characteristic weapons—trees and stones.
Collective courage and steadfastness in service (sevā-bhāva) to Rama’s cause.
