يا من حطّمتَ حدودَ الاستقامة، بلا حياء ولا ثبات على السلوك القويم—بدافع الكِبر تندفع إلى الموت، ومع ذلك تقول: «أنا بطل»!
"O shameless one! You have transgressed morality and traditional practice. You are dissolute and by your pride seeking death. You think that you are a hero!"
Maryādā (ethical limits) sustains society and self-mastery. Pride that breaks boundaries leads to ruin; Dharma warns that arrogance invites self-destruction.
Rāma frames the battle not only as physical conflict but as moral consequence: Rāvaṇa’s lawlessness and pride culminate in death.
Adherence to maryādā and steadiness of character (ācāra-niṣṭhā) are upheld as virtues.
