Sita’s Counsel on Honor, Rescue-Strategy, and Hanuman’s Reassurance
यदि वा मन्यसे वीर वसैकाहमरिन्दम।कस्मिंश्चित्संवृते देशे विक्रान्तश्श्वो गमिष्यसि।।।।
yadi vā manyase vīra vasaikāham arindama |
kasmiṁścit saṁvṛte deśe vikrāntaḥ śvo gamiṣyasi ||
إن رأيتَ ذلك، أيها البطل قاهر الأعداء، فأقم هنا يومًا واحدًا في موضعٍ مستور؛ فإذا استرحتَ انطلقتَ غدًا.
'You will hear before long the shouts of generals of the vanaras who resemble rain-clouds on the mountain roaring like lions from the Malaya mountain of Lanka.
Dharma here includes humane consideration and gratitude: Sītā requests Hanumān to rest, honoring the helper’s well-being rather than treating him merely as a messenger.
After receiving news of Rāma, Sītā speaks to Hanumān and asks him to remain briefly in hiding before returning, seeking a little relief through his presence.
Sītā’s empathy and courtesy—she recognizes Hanumān’s exertion and asks him to rest safely.
