Sita Tests the Messenger; Hanuman Offers Reassurance
sītāyāś cintitaṃ buddhvā hanumān mārutātmajaḥ ।
śrotrānukūlair vacanais tadā tāṃ saṃpraharṣayat ॥
Hanuman, son of the Wind-god understood what was going on in Sita's mind and spoke pleasing words that brought joy in her.
Dharma of compassionate speech: Hanumān uses fitting, reassuring words to reduce fear and restore hope, without violating truth (satya).
Seeing Sītā’s hesitation, Hanumān adapts his approach and speaks gently to win her confidence.
Hanumān’s empathy and skillful communication (hita-vacana): he understands the listener’s state and responds appropriately.
