Sita’s Dharmic Admonition to Ravana
अतुष्टं स्वेषु दारेषु चपलं चलितेन्द्रियम्।।।।नयन्ति निकृतिप्रज्ञं परदाराः पराभवम्।
atuṣṭaṃ sveṣu dāreṣu capalaṃ calitendriyam |
nayanti nikṛti-prajñaṃ paradārāḥ parābhavam ||
إنّ الرجلَ الذي لا يرضى بزوجاته، المتقلّبَ غيرَ الضابطِ لحواسّه، ذا العقلِ المائلِ إلى الخداع، تُساقُه مطاردةُ زوجاتِ الآخرين إلى المهانةِ والانكسار.
Glorious Vaidehi having thus spoken to the demon turned her back and continued:
Sense-control and contentment support dharma; uncontrolled desire and deceit lead inevitably to social and moral ruin.
Sītā warns Rāvaṇa that lust for another’s wife brings disgrace and downfall.
Discernment—Sītā diagnoses the inner causes of adharma (restlessness, lack of restraint).
