Sarga 15: The Devas’ Petition, the Means to Slay Ravana, and Vishnu’s Commission to Incarnate as Man
इष्टिं तेऽहं करिष्यामि पुत्रीयां पुत्रकारणात्।अथर्वशिरसि प्रोक्तैर्मन्त्रैस्सिद्धां विधानत:।।1.15.2।।
iṣṭiṃ te ’haṃ kariṣyāmi putrīyāṃ putrakāraṇāt |
atharvaśirasi proktair mantraiḥ siddhāṃ vidhānataḥ ||1.15.2||
سأقيم لك قربان «بوترييِشتي» لطلب الأبناء، مُنجَزًا على وفق الأصول والشرائع، ومؤيَّدًا بالمانترا المعلَّمة في تقليد «أثارفا شيراس».
At this juncture Visnu the lord of the world, highly effulgent and bearing conch, discus and mace in his hands and in yellow apparel arrived.
Dharma is shown as acting through lawful means: even a king seeks desired ends (heirs) through prescribed ritual order (vidhi), not through impatience or adharma.
Daśaratha seeks sons; the sage assures him that a properly performed Putrīyeṣṭi rite, grounded in Vedic mantras, will accomplish the goal.
Ṛśyaśṛṅga’s competence and fidelity to tradition—performing sacred duty precisely and responsibly.
