Bharata’s Ferrying of the Army across the Ganga
तत स्स्वस्तिकविज्ञेयां पाण्डुकम्बलसंवृताम्।सनन्दिघोषां कल्याणीं गुहो नावमुपाहरत्।।।।
tataḥ svastikavijñeyāṃ pāṇḍukambalasaṃvṛtām | sanandighoṣāṃ kalyāṇīṃ guho nāvam upāharat ||
ثم قدّم غُها قاربًا ميمونًا يُعرَف بـ«سفاستيكا»، مكسوًّا بقماش أبيض، يرنّ بأصوات عذبة مُبهِجة.
The family priest (Vasistha) and other brahmins were the first to board. Next mightyBharata and Satrughna, Kausalya, Sumitra, women of the palace including the other wives of the king and wagons and supplies followed.
Dharma appears as respectful hospitality and assistance to travelers—Guha supports the righteous journey by providing the best means for safe crossing.
Guha personally produces a distinguished boat for the crossing, indicating the importance of the guests and the seriousness of the task.
