Sarga 75: Bharata and Kausalya—Reproach, Oaths, and Reconciliation
कामं वा स्वयमेवाद्य तत्र मां नेतुमर्हसि।यत्रासौ पुरुषव्याघ्रः पुत्रो मे तप्यते तपः।।।।
kāmaṃ vā svayam evādya tatra māṃ netum arhasi | yatrāsau puruṣavyāghraḥ putro me tapyate tapaḥ ||
أو حقًّا، ينبغي لك أنت بنفسك اليوم أن تقودني إلى ذلك الموضع حيث ذاك النمر بين الرجال—ابني—يمارس تَقَشُّفَه.
Or, you should now take me personally to that place where, my son Rama, the best among men, is performing austerities.
Dharma here is reverence for the ascetic duty Rāma accepts and the mother’s insistence on being guided toward the righteous path rather than comfort in the palace.
Kausalyā presses Bharata either to let her go herself or to escort her to Rāma’s place of exile where he lives in austerity.
Rāma’s tapas and Kausalyā’s unwavering maternal commitment to him.
