Coronation Preparations and Sumantra’s Commission
उदिते विमले सूर्ये पुष्ये चाभ्यागतेऽहनि।लग्ने कर्कटके प्राप्ते जन्म रामस्य च स्थिते।।2.15.3।।अभिषेकाय रामस्य द्विजेन्द्रैरुपकल्पितम्।
udite vimale sūrye puṣye cābhyāgate 'hani | lagne karkaṭake prāpte janma rāmasya ca sthite || 2.15.3 || abhiṣekāya rāmasya dvijendrair upakalpitam |
ولمّا أشرقَتِ الشمسُ صافيةً نقيّة، في اليوم الذي كان فيه نجمُ بوشيا في الطالع، وحين حلّ طالعُ كَرْكَطَكَة (السرطان)—وهو طالعُ مولدِ راما—أعدّ كبارُ البراهمة ما يلزم لأبهيشيكا راما، أي لتتويجه المقدّس.
At these words of the king, he offered his salutations by bowing his head and left the king's apartment, reflecting on the great happy event.
The verse highlights rājadharma expressed through śāstra-guided procedure: major public acts (like coronation) are undertaken with due ritual order and auspicious timing, showing respect for tradition and social-religious responsibility.
Brahmin elders determine and prepare the proper astrological and ritual conditions for Rāma’s coronation (abhiṣeka).
Collective responsibility and reverence for dharmic order—seen in the brahmins’ careful preparation and adherence to prescribed norms.
