Ravana’s Journey to Maricha’s Hermitage
तत्कार्यमनुगम्याथ यथावदुपलभ्य च।दोषाणां च गुणानां च सम्प्रधार्य बलाबलम्।3.35.2।।इति कर्तव्यमित्येव कृत्वा निश्चयमात्मनः।स्थिरबुद्धिस्ततो रम्यां यानशालां जगाम ह।।3.35.3।।
iti kartavyam ity eva kṛtvā niścayam ātmanaḥ | sthirabuddhis tato ramyāṃ yānaśālāṃ jagāma ha ||
ولمّا عزم في نفسه قائلاً: «هذا حقّاً ما ينبغي فعله»، مضى ثابتَ الرأي إلى إسطبلِ المركباتِ البهيّ.
Deliberating on the task ahead, duly considering the pros and cons, demerits and merits, strength and weakness, of the issue and having firmly decided within himself, he left for the beautiful coachshed.
Dharma involves deliberate discernment and firm resolve—acting only after deciding clearly what ought to be done.
A character (contextually Rāvaṇa in this sarga’s travel sequence) decides on a course of action and proceeds to the coach-shed to set it in motion.
Steadiness of mind (sthirabuddhi)—the capacity to commit to a decision after reflection.
