Unspecified narrator (contextual narrator describing the kṣetra’s boundaries)

Concept: Sacred space is not vague sentiment but a dharmically measured kṣetra with known boundaries, enabling proper pilgrimage practice.

Application: Approach pilgrimage with intentionality—learn the place’s maryādā (boundaries, rules), and practice respectful conduct within sacred precincts.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Type: tirtha

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A narrator-sage gestures over a stylized map-like landscape where two rivers curve like silver threads—Candranadī to the south and Sarasvatī to the east—enclosing a luminous kṣetra. Pilgrims stand at the edges with staffs and water pots, as if awaiting permission to enter the sanctified perimeter.","primary_figures":["Purāṇic narrator-sage","pilgrims (yātrikas)","guardian markers (kṣetra-stambhas, symbolic)"],"setting":"A broad sacred plain with riverbanks, boundary stones, and a distant altar platform; cardinal directions subtly indicated by sun path and compass-like motifs.","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["river-silver","saffron","emerald green","sky-cyan","sandstone beige"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: a luminous kṣetra enclosed by two flowing rivers labeled in Devanagari-like script; a sage points while pilgrims stand with kalaśas; gold leaf used to outline the kṣetra boundary and river highlights; rich reds/greens, ornate border patterns, temple-like framing.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: panoramic landscape with delicate rivers and tiny pilgrims; the sage narrates in the foreground; cool blues and greens with sandy plains; refined linework, lyrical naturalism, subtle directional cues via sun and shadows.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: simplified iconic rivers as turquoise bands; boundary stones in rhythmic repetition; sage in bold outline explaining; warm red/yellow/green palette with black contours; temple-wall compositional balance.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: the kṣetra depicted as a central mandala-field bordered by lotus vines; rivers as flowing ribbon motifs; pilgrims arranged symmetrically; intricate floral borders, deep blues and gold, devotional cartography aesthetic."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"narrative","suggested_raga":"Desh","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"authoritative","sound_elements":["flowing water","footsteps on sand","soft bell at boundary shrine","wind over plains"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: यथावत्कथयामि = यथावत् + कथयामि; चंद्रनद्यास्तु = चन्द्रनद्याः + तु; यावत्सरस्वती = यावत् + सरस्वती.

FAQs

It defines a kṣetra by river-based boundaries—north of the Candranadī and stretching eastward up to the Sarasvatī—showing how Purāṇic sacred sites are mapped through natural landmarks.

Indirectly: by locating and delimiting a kṣetra, it supports pilgrimage and sacred remembrance, practices commonly tied to devotional (bhakti) life even when the verse itself is primarily geographic.

The verse models careful transmission of tradition—“I will tell you properly”—highlighting accuracy, responsibility, and reverence when describing sacred places and teachings.
