evaṃ kartumaśakto yaḥ phalamūlaṃ ca bhojanam | kuryāddhaviṣyaṃ vā vipra yathoktavidhinā ha vai
Unspecified (narrative instruction addressed to a brāhmaṇa: 'vipra')
Concept: Dharma accommodates capacity (śakti): when strict observance is impossible, one may adopt simpler sāttvika foods while preserving the vow’s intent and procedure.
Application: Choose a sustainable discipline you can actually keep—simple diet, consistent prayer, and ethical living—rather than abandoning practice due to perfectionism.
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: shanta

Sandhi Resolution Notes:
If someone cannot follow the primary observance, the text allows an alternative: eating fruits and roots, or taking haviṣya food, while still following the prescribed method.
Haviṣya generally refers to a simple, ritually acceptable diet associated with offerings—plain, restrained food taken in a regulated way as part of an observance.
It presents dharma as adaptable: when a strict practice is not feasible, an approved, simpler substitute is allowed, provided one maintains sincerity and follows the stated procedure.
