Unspecified (narrative instruction within the Bhūmi-khaṇḍa context)

Concept: Single-pointed resolve seeks to convert intention into mastery; yet in Purāṇic ethics this becomes ambiguous when aimed at domination rather than dharma.

Application: Cultivate determination, but pair it with ethical checks: ask whether the goal increases compassion, truthfulness, and devotion.

Primary Rasa: vira

Secondary Rasa: raudra

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A symbolic scene: Pippala sits in intense meditation, and from his thought-forms arise translucent images of objects and beings bending toward him like iron to a magnet. The air is filled with geometric yantra-like patterns, suggesting ‘pratyaya’ (certainty) crystallizing into force. The beauty of concentration is undercut by the unsettling motif of others being drawn into his control.","primary_figures":["Pippala","thought-forms/illusory figures under influence"],"setting":"Meditation chamber in the sky or a secluded celestial grove, filled with yantra-like light patterns","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["white-gold","deep violet","copper","teal","smoke gray"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Pippala in yogic posture with gold leaf aura; surrounding him, stylized yantras and miniature figures drawn inward; rich maroon and green background, ornate gold borders, gem-like highlights emphasizing the ‘certainty’ motif.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: Quiet grove with delicate trees and a pale sky; Pippala meditating, faint translucent vignettes of controlled outcomes hovering around; cool palette with subtle copper accents, refined linework conveying mental force.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: Strong outlines; Pippala centered, yantra motifs radiating; simplified figures leaning toward him; bold red/yellow/green with dark blue field, temple-wall symbolism of mind-power.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: Central meditating figure framed by lotus and floral borders; concentric mandala patterns representing pratyaya; deep indigo cloth ground with gold and white detailing, intricate symmetry suggesting both devotion and the trap of control."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"dramatic","suggested_raga":"Durga","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"authoritative","sound_elements":["tanpura drone","single bell strikes","wind hush","low mridangam"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: tadarthaṃ = tad + artham (अव्ययीभाव); kartumudyataḥ = kartum + udyataḥ; vaśamānayet = vaśam + ānayet.

dvija (twice-born)

FAQs

It teaches disciplined resolve: one should not merely plan, but actively secure the means and mastery required so the intended action becomes achievable and reliable.

Literally “the foremost among the twice-born,” i.e., an exemplary brāhmaṇa or spiritually refined person, used here as an ideal type for disciplined conduct.

Ethically, it emphasizes self-governance and responsibility: intentions should be matched by control over one’s senses, resources, and circumstances so actions align with dharma rather than impulse.
