harṣeṇa mahatāviṣṭastamuvāca janārdanam | dāsohaṃ tava deveśa śaṃkhacakragadādhara
An unnamed devotee/supplicant addressing Janārdana (Viṣṇu)
Primary Rasa: shringara
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Sandhi Resolution Notes:
It expresses dāsya-bhāva—devotion in the mood of servitude—where the devotee identifies as the Lord’s servant (dāso ’ham tava).
These are Viṣṇu’s iconic emblems (śaṅkha, cakra, gadā), used in Purāṇic literature to unmistakably identify Him and evoke His protective, sovereign nature.
It models humility and surrender: the devotee places ego aside and adopts a life of service, aligning actions and identity with devotion rather than self-importance.
