Glory of Puruṣottama: Pañcatīrthī Observance and Narasiṃha Worship
sanyāsena yathoktena yatphalaṃ samudāhṛtam | narastatphalamāpnoti dṛṣṭvā cīrṇena kīrtitam || 59 ||
Narada (within a didactic narration on merit and sacred observances)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It teaches the extraordinary sanctifying power (pāvanatā) of contact with realized renunciants: even darśana (holy sight) of one who truly practices sannyāsa is said to confer the same spiritual fruit as the discipline itself.
By emphasizing darśana and reverence toward holy persons, it supports a bhakti-oriented culture where honoring the Lord’s devotees and ascetics becomes a direct means of accruing merit and moving toward liberation.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is dharma-sādhana: seek satsanga and darśana of genuine sannyāsins as a recognized purifier in Purāṇic practice.
