gāyake madhuraṃ gītaṃ hanūmati kapīśvare | mlānamalmānamabhavatkṛśāḥ puṣṭāstadābhavan || 119 ||
Narada (narrating within the instructional discourse to the Sanatkumara brothers)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: karuna
It highlights the transformative power of devotional sound (gīta/kīrtana): sacred, sweetly rendered singing uplifts the mind and restores vitality, indicating bhakti’s immediate, lived fruit (phala).
Bhakti is shown as accessible and effective through heartfelt singing in the presence of a revered devotee like Hanumān; sincere kīrtana turns inner weakness into strength and despair into joy.
The verse implicitly supports Śikṣā (discipline of sound/phonetics): “madhuraṃ gītam” points to correct, pleasing vocal delivery as a practical aid to devotion and mental steadiness.
