The Greatness of Viṣṇu
Viṣṇor Māhātmya
dṛṣṭaḥ smṛtaḥ pūjito vā dhyātaḥ praṇamito'pi vā | samuddharati govindo dustarādbhavasāgarāt || 6 ||
Narada (teaching in praise of Vishnu-bhakti)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti (devotion)
Secondary Rasa: shanta (peace)
It declares the saving power of Govinda’s grace: even simple acts like seeing, remembering, or bowing to Vishnu become effective means for liberation from the ocean of saṃsāra.
Bhakti is shown as accessible and multi-formed—darśana (seeing), smaraṇa (remembering), pūjā (worship), dhyāna (meditation), and praṇāma (prostration)—any sincere connection to Govinda can lead to deliverance.
No specific Vedanga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is taught here; the practical takeaway is a daily bhakti-sādhana: keep Govinda in mind through smaraṇa, dhyāna, and regular praṇāma alongside pūjā.
