Ekādaśī Vrata-Vidhi and the Galava–Bhadrashīla Itihāsa
Dharmakīrti before Yama
तस्माद्विष्ण्वर्चनोद्योगं करोमि सह बालकैः । एकादशीव्रतमिदमिति न ज्ञातवान्पुरा ॥ ९२ ॥
tasmādviṣṇvarcanodyogaṃ karomi saha bālakaiḥ | ekādaśīvratamidamiti na jñātavānpurā || 92 ||
لذلك أُقبلُ مع الصبيان على عبادةِ الربِّ فيشنو؛ إذ لم أكن أعلمُ من قبلُ أن هذه الممارسة هي نذرُ إيكاداشي (Ekādaśī).
Narada (narrating within the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue frame)
Vrata: Ekādaśī
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
The verse highlights how sincere Viṣṇu-worship (arcana), even begun without full prior knowledge, becomes spiritually potent when aligned with Ekādaśī—showing that devotion and correct sacred timing (tithi) together strengthen dharma.
Bhakti is shown as practical and participatory: one actively undertakes Viṣṇu-arcana, includes others (here, children), and gradually understands the sacred vow’s identity—devotion matures through practice, guidance, and recognition of vrata.
It points to calendrical discipline—knowing Ekādaśī as a specific tithi—linking practice to time-reckoning (a Jyotiṣa-style application) used for scheduling vratas and ritual observances.
