Vāmana’s Advent, Aditi’s Hymn, Bali’s Gift, and the Mahatmya of Bhū-dāna
अग्नौ वा ब्राह्मणे वापिहूयते यद्वविर्गुरो । हरिभक्त्या महाभाग तेन विष्णुः प्रसीदति ॥ ३ ॥
agnau vā brāhmaṇe vāpihūyate yadvavirguro | haribhaktyā mahābhāga tena viṣṇuḥ prasīdati || 3 ||
أيها المبجَّل، سواء أُلقيت القُربان في النار أو قُدِّمت لبرهمن، فإذا قُدِّمت ببهكتيٍ لهاري، فبذلك يرضى فيشنو.
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It teaches that the decisive factor in ritual efficacy is Hari-bhakti: offerings in yajña or gifts to brāhmaṇas become spiritually complete when dedicated to Vishnu, who is thereby pleased.
Bhakti is presented as the inner consecration of action—whether one performs fire-sacrifice or charitable giving, devotion to Hari turns the act into direct worship that reaches Vishnu.
It reflects kalpa (ritual procedure) and dharma-prayoga: havis offered into Agni and dana to qualified brāhmaṇas are both valid Vedic acts, but the verse emphasizes correct sankalpa (devotional intent) as the key practical takeaway.
