Adhyaya 78 — Hymn to Surya and the Distribution of Solar Splendour; Genealogy of Vaivasvata and Chaya’s Line
mūrtāmūrtaḥ tathā sūkṣmaḥ sthūla-rūpas tathā sthitaḥ | nimeṣa-kāṣṭhādi-mayaḥ kāla-rūpaḥ kṣayātmakaḥ | prasīda svecchayā rūpaṃ sva-tejaḥ śamanaṃ kuru ||

The same divine power that protects also dissolves; acknowledging this fosters humility and right conduct. The prayer models restraint: even divine power is asked to be moderated for cosmic balance.
Touches Sarga (structure of time and manifestation) and Pratisarga (dissolution/renewal), embedded within Carita (the Devi narrative).
Time-units symbolize the deity’s immanence in perception and change. ‘Pacifying one’s own radiance’ points to śakti being self-governed (svātantrya): the absolute can contract/expand manifestation by will.
