Adhyaya 62 — The Fire-God Enters the Brahmin Youth; Varuthini’s Love-Sickness and Kali’s Disguise
इति श्रीमार्कण्डेयपुराणेऽथ ब्राह्मणवाक्यम् नामैकषष्टितमोऽध्यायः ।
द्विषष्टितमोऽध्यायः—६२
मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
एवंतु वदतस्तस्य द्विजपुत्रस्य पावकः ।
गार्हपत्यः शरीरे तु सन्निधानमथाकरॊत् ॥
iti śrīmārkaṇḍeyapurāṇe ’tha brāhmaṇavākyam nāmaikaṣaṣṭitamo ’dhyāyaḥ | dviṣaṣṭitamo ’dhyāyaḥ—62 | mārkaṇḍeya uvāca | evaṃ tu vadatas tasya dvijaputrasya pāvakaḥ | gārhapatyaḥ śarīre tu sannidhānam athākarot ||
قال ماركانديَيا: «فلما تكلّم هو (ابنُ البراهمن) بهذا القول، فإنّ النارَ المقدّسة—نارَ الغارهَپاتيا (Gārhapatya)—قد أقامت حضورَها حينئذٍ في جسده هو نفسه»۔

The verse elevates gṛhastha-dharma symbolism: the Gārhapatya fire is not merely external ritual but can become ‘internalized’—suggesting that disciplined speech/resolve and purity make the sacred principle present within one’s own being.

Agni entering the body can be read as prāṇāgni/tejas awakening: the ‘householder fire’ becomes the inner fire that transforms intention into effective power (śakti) and radiance (prabhā).
