Chapter 58: Arjuna’s Deployment of the Indra-Weapon
जाम्बूनदमयै: पुड्खैश्षित्रचापविनिर्गतै: । प्राच्छादयदमेयात्मा दिश: सूर्यस्य च प्रभाम्
jāmbūnadamayaiḥ puṅkhaiś citracāpavinirgataiḥ | prācchādayad ameyātmā diśaḥ sūryasya ca prabhām ||
قال فايشَمبايانا: من قوسه العجيب اندفعت سهامٌ ذات سيقانٍ ذهبية وصنعةٍ ملوّنة في غزارةٍ حتى بدا ذلك المحارب العظيم النفس كأنه يُغشّي جهات السماء ويستر حتى شعاع الشمس.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the overwhelming force of disciplined martial ability; ethically, it implies that such immense power must be governed by dharma—right intention and restraint—since it can dominate and darken the world when unleashed.
A warrior releases a torrent of ornate, golden-shafted arrows from a splendid bow, so dense that they seem to cover the sky’s quarters and dim even the sun’s radiance, emphasizing the intensity of the battle moment.
