te tu tatropavāsāṁs tu cakruḥ niścitamānasāḥ | brāhmaṇās tatra śataśaḥ samājagmus tapodhanāḥ ||
وهناك، وقد ثبتت عزائمهم، أقاموا أصوامًا متكرّرة في ذلك التيِرثا المقدّس. وفي ذلك الحين اجتمع هناك مئاتٌ من البراهمة الزهّاد—أغنياء بالتقشّف (تابَس)—جذبهم قُدسُ التيِرثا والانضباطُ الذي كان يُمارَس فيه.
वैशग्पायन उवाच
Steadfast resolve (niścaya) expressed through disciplined vows like fasting is presented as a dharmic means of purification and spiritual focus; true 'wealth' for ascetics is tapas, not possessions.
At a sacred tīrtha, the protagonists undertake multiple fasts with firm determination, and the sanctity of the place and the austerity being practiced draws large numbers of ascetic Brahmins to assemble there.
