ye ca vedavido viprā ye cādhyātmavido janāḥ | te vadanti mahātmānaṃ kṛṣṇaṃ dharma sanātanam ||
True authority in Dharma is affirmed by both outer scriptural learning (Veda) and inner realization (adhyātma). When these two streams agree, the person praised—here Krishna—is presented as aligned with, or embodying, eternal Dharma.
Dhaumya is commending Krishna by citing the consensus of respected authorities: Veda-knowing Brahmins and spiritually realized people. This functions as an ethical endorsement of Krishna’s character and dharmic standing within the ongoing counsel and discourse of the Vana Parva.
