Yudhiṣṭhira’s Rationale for Sending Arjuna and Request to Dhaumya
yatra rāmo gataḥ svargaṃ sabhṛtyabalavāhanaḥ | sa ca vīro mahārāja tasya tīrthasya tejasā |
The verse highlights the sanctifying efficacy (tejas) of a tīrtha: contact with a holy place, approached with reverence and right conduct, is portrayed as capable of elevating even one’s final destiny. It also presents Rāma as an exemplar whose departure is framed as a spiritually meaningful ascent rather than a merely physical end.
The speaker points out a particular sacred location associated with Rāma’s departure to svarga/eternal abode. Rāma is described as going there together with his attendants, troops, and conveyances, and by the power of that tīrtha he attains his transcendent destination.
