Moral purification is portrayed as both spiritually efficacious and socially consequential: cleansing oneself of sin yields prosperity and, more importantly, benefits one’s lineage by ‘uplifting’ past and future generations.
Ghulastya is speaking in a didactic mode, stating the fruits of becoming ‘purified of all sins’: the person gains abundant wealth and is credited with rescuing or elevating the family line across ten generations before and after.
