The verse teaches that sincere pilgrimage and ritual bathing at a sanctified river-tīrtha can purify even grave wrongdoing, and that such dharmic acts can yield merit comparable to major Vedic royal sacrifices—making spiritual benefit accessible beyond elite ritual performance.
A speaker is describing a sacred site: the Kauśikī river is praised as a powerful purifier. The listener is instructed to go there and bathe, with the assurance that this act grants the fruit of the Rājasūya sacrifice.
