जनि>यै कथयामास सैरन्ध्री रोदितीति च । ब्राह्मणेन सहागम्य तां वेद यदि मन्यसे,उसने अपनी मातासे जाकर कहा--'माँ! सैरन्ध्री एक ब्राह्मणसे मिलकर बहुत रो रही है। यदि तुम ठीक समझो तो इसका कारण जाननेकी चेष्टा करो”
jñātvā kathayāmāsa sairandhrī roditīti ca | brāhmaṇena sahāgamya tāṃ veda yadi manyase ||
فلما علم بالأمر مضى فأخبر قائلاً: «يا أمّاه، إن الجارية سَيْرَنْدْهْرِي تبكي بكاءً شديدًا بعد أن لقيتْ براهمنًا. فإن رأيتِ ذلك لائقًا فحاولي أن تستجلي السبب». ويعكس هذا القول نهجًا متزنًا على هدي الدارما: قبل الإقدام على الفعل ينبغي الاستفهام عن كرب الآخرين برفقٍ وكتمانٍ ورحمة.
