सूर्य–कर्णोपदेशः

Sūrya’s Counsel to Karṇa on Kīrti and the Kuṇḍala

ब्रृहि कि ते करोम्यत्र साहाय्यं पुरुषर्षभ । ऐक्ष्वाको हास्मि ते ज्ञातिरिति रामस्तमब्रवीत्‌,“नरश्रेष्ठ! कहो, मैं यहाँ तुम्हारी क्या सहायता करूँ? सगरपुत्रोंसे संवर्धित होनेके कारण मैं भी इक्ष्वाकुवंशीय तथा तुम्हारा भाई-बन्धु हूँ"। यह सुनकर श्रीरामचन्द्रजीने उससे कहा --

brūhi kiṃ te karomy atra sāhāyyaṃ puruṣarṣabha | aikṣvāko 'ham asmi te jñātir iti rāmas tam abravīt ||

قال راما له: «أخبرني، يا ثورَ الرجال، أيَّ عونٍ أقدّمه لك هنا؟ إنني من سلالة إكشڤاكو وأنا من ذوي قرابتك؛ فتكلم بلا تردد». وفي هذا القول يجعل راما المساعدةَ واجبًا مؤسَّسًا على رابطة النسب والتضامن وفق الدَّرما، لا مجردَ مِنّةٍ وعطاء.
