त्रयस्त्रिंशदिमे देवा येषां लोका मनीषिभि: । गम्यन्ते नियमै: श्रेष्ठैर्दनिर्वा विधिपूर्वकै:,ये जो तैंतीस देवता हैं, उन्हींके लोकोंको मनीषी पुरुष उत्तम नियमोंके आचरणसे अथवा विधिपूर्वक दिये हुए दानोंसे प्राप्त करते हैं
trayastrīṃśad ime devā yeṣāṃ lokā manīṣibhiḥ | gamyante niyamaiḥ śreṣṭhair dānair vā vidhipūrvakaiḥ ||
هؤلاء هم الآلهة الثلاثة والثلاثون؛ وإن العوالم التابعة لهم ينالها الحكماء—إمّا بممارسة أرفع ضروب الانضباط وكبح النفس، وإمّا بالعطايا التي تُقدَّم على الوجه المرسوم وفق الشرع والطقس.
देवदूत उवाच
Access to higher realms is presented as a fruit of dharmic conduct: disciplined observances (niyama) and properly performed charity (vidhipūrvaka dāna). The verse emphasizes not merely giving, but giving in accordance with right method and intention, alongside personal restraint.
A divine messenger (devadūta) explains to the listener that the celestial worlds of the thirty-three gods are attainable for the wise, outlining the means—excellent disciplines or duly prescribed acts of giving—thereby framing a moral pathway to heavenly attainment.
