Recovery of Draupadī and Jayadratha’s flight
putravac ca naravyāghra pādau jagrāha dharmavit | dhṛtarāṣṭreṇa cāśliṣya premaṇā cāpi visṛjitaḥ ||
The verse highlights dharmic conduct expressed through humility and reverence: a righteous person approaches an elder with filial respect (clasping the feet), and the elder responds with affectionate acceptance, showing that dharma is sustained by mutual honor and love.
A dharma-knowing figure approaches a great man addressed as ‘naravyāghra’ and performs a gesture of respect by taking his feet. Dhṛtarāṣṭra then embraces him warmly and, after showing affection, releases him—marking a moment of respectful meeting and emotional acknowledgment.
