Draupadī’s Identification and Counsel on Hospitality
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: duḥkhitaḥ pādayos tasya netrajaṃ jalam utsṛjan, uktavān sa naravyāghro naitad evaṃ bhaviṣyati.
The verse highlights how powerful personal loyalty and attachment can be; when not guided by dharma, such devotion becomes stubborn resolve that ignores moral consequence and accelerates downfall.
Duḥśāsana, overwhelmed with sorrow, falls at Duryodhana’s feet and sheds tears, declaring emphatically that the feared outcome “will not happen thus,” expressing desperate confidence and fraternal commitment.
