वनप्रस्थानम् (Departure for the Forest) — Āraṇyaka-parva, Adhyāya 24
त्वमेव राजन् जानासि श्रेय:कारणमेव च । यत्रेच्छसि महाराज निवासं तत्र कुर्महे,राजन! आप ही श्रेय (मोक्ष)-के कारणका ज्ञान रखते हैं। महाराज! आपकी जहाँ इच्छा हो वहीं हमलोग निवास करेंगे
tvam eva rājan jānāsi śreyaḥ-kāraṇam eva ca | yatre cchasi mahārāja nivāsaṃ tatra kurmahe ||
قال أرجونا: «أيها الملك، أنت وحدك تعلم ما يقود حقًّا إلى الخير الأسمى—بل إلى سبب التحرّر (موكشا) نفسه. أيها الملك العظيم، حيثما تشاء فهناك نجعل مقامنا.»
अजुन उवाच
The verse highlights humility and deference to wise guidance: Arjuna acknowledges that the king knows the means to the highest good (śreyas, associated with liberation) and expresses readiness to follow that counsel in choosing their place of residence.
Arjuna addresses a king and affirms trust in his discernment about what is spiritually and practically best; he then states that the group will stay wherever the king wishes, indicating cooperation and acceptance of leadership in their circumstances.
