Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how extraordinary power—skill (Arjuna), instrument (Gāṇḍīva), and divine weaponry (divyāstras)—becomes overwhelming when united. Implicitly, it warns that such force is ethically significant: when aligned with dharma it is decisive, and when misused it would be catastrophic.

Vaiśampāyana describes Arjuna’s readiness and supremacy: he holds the fearsome Gāṇḍīva and has obtained divine astras. The narrator then poses a rhetorical question—who could withstand the combined might of these three—emphasizing Arjuna’s near-unassailable position at this point in the story.
