pratipūjya ca tāṃ pūjāṃ dvijaḥ papraccha tāv ubhau | suputrābhyāṃ sabhṛtyābhyāṃ kaccid vāṃ kuśalaṃ gṛhe ||
Dharma is expressed through refined conduct: one should reciprocate honor received and inquire after the welfare of others in a way that includes their children and dependents, recognizing responsibility for the whole household.
After being respectfully worshiped/received, a brahmin (as narrated by Markandeya) returns the courtesy and then asks the two people before him whether everything is well at home, specifically mentioning their sons and attendants.
