Kṛtayuga Description and Instruction on Royal Dharma
arthalobhān naravyāprā tathā ca brahmacāriṇaḥ
Greed for wealth (arthalobha) agitates the mind and drives people into incessant worldly activity; the verse warns that even those committed to disciplined life (brahmacarya) can be tested by such impulses, so vigilance and self-restraint are essential to dharma.
Vaiśampāyana continues the narration by characterizing how the desire for material gain makes people energetically pursue worldly ends, adding that even brahmacārins—ideally devoted to restraint and study—may also become caught up in such pursuits.
