सगरोपाख्यानम् — कपिलकोपः, अंशुमतः विनयः, तथा भगीरथपरम्परा

ते चैव सर्वे सहिता: क्षयं यास्यन्ति पार्थिव | एको वंशधर: शूर एकस्यां सम्भविष्यति,“नरश्रेष्ठ! तुम्हारी एक पत्नीके गर्भसे अत्यन्त अभिमानी साठ हजार शूरवीर पुत्र होंगे, परंतु वे सब-के-सब एक ही साथ नष्ट हो जायँगे। भूपाल! तुम्हारी जो दूसरी पत्नी है, उसके गर्भसे एक ही शूरवीर वंशधर पुत्र उत्पन्न होगा”
te caiva sarve sahitāḥ kṣayaṃ yāsyanti pārthiva | eko vaṃśadharaḥ śūra ekasyāṃ sambhaviṣyati ||
«أيها الملك، إن أولئك الأبناء جميعًا سيلاقون الهلاك مجتمعين. غير أنّ إحدى ملكاتك ستلد ابنًا واحدًا بطلًا يكون وارثَ السلالة.»
