Udyoga Parva, Adhyāya 72 — Bhīmasena’s counsel on conciliation and Duryodhana’s disposition
मध्ये राज्ञामहं तत्र प्रातिपौरुषिकान् गुणान् | तव संकीर्तयिष्यामि ये च तस्य व्यतिक्रमा:
madhye rājñām ahaṃ tatra prātipauruṣikān guṇān | tava saṃkīrtayiṣyāmi ye ca tasya vyatikramāḥ ||
«وفي وسط الملوك المجتمعين هناك، سأُعلن على الملأ فضائلك الجديرة بالثناء؛ وسأكشف كذلك تعدّياته ومخالفاته التي تجاوز بها حدود السلوك القويم.»
युधिछिर उवाच
Dharma requires that virtue and wrongdoing be named openly in appropriate forums: praising genuine merit while also exposing transgressions, so that moral clarity guides political decision-making.
Yudhiṣṭhira declares that, before the gathered kings in the court, he will publicly recount the addressee’s virtues and also reveal the opposing party’s violations—framing the dispute in terms of dharma versus transgression.
