ब्रह्मोवाच यावेतौ पृथिवीं द्यांच भासयन्तौ तपस्विनौ । ज्वलन्तौ रोचमानौ च व्याप्यातीती महाबलौ
brahmovāca yāv etau pṛthivīṃ dyāṃ ca bhāsayantau tapasvinau | jvalantau rocamānau ca vyāpyātītī mahābalau ||
قال براهما: «يا بْرِهَسْبَتي، هذان الزاهدان الجبّاران يضيئان الأرض والسماء؛ متّقدان متلألئان، قد تجاوزا كل حدّ وتقدّما، نافذين في كل شيء. إنهما نارا ونارايانا. وبقوة تقشّفهما صارا شديدي النفوذ، ومن عالم البشر صعدا إلى عالم براهما.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical-spiritual ideal that disciplined austerity (tapas) and steadfastness can generate transformative inner power—so great that it is described as illuminating the worlds and transcending ordinary limits—when embodied by dharmic beings like Nara and Nārāyaṇa.
Brahmā identifies two extraordinary ascetics whose radiance fills earth and heaven. He declares them to be Nara and Nārāyaṇa, emphasizing their immense strength and the potency of their tapas, by which they have reached Brahmaloka.
