Timely Counsel, Association, and Kin-Duty
dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca evam etad yathā tvaṁ mām anuśāsasi nityadā | mamāpi ca matiḥ saumya bhavaty evaṁ yathā tathā mām ||
The verse highlights receptivity to wise counsel: a ruler’s judgment should be shaped by continual ethical instruction, aligning one’s mind with what is right and true rather than with impulse or partiality.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra responds to ongoing guidance from a trusted adviser, acknowledging that the adviser’s repeated instruction influences his own thinking and disposition, at least in the moment, toward accepting the proper course.
