उद्योगपर्व — अध्याय 33: धृतराष्ट्र-विदुर संवादः (विदुरनीतिः)
तथैव योगविहितं यत् तु कर्म न सिध्यति । उपाययुक्त मेधावी न तत्र ग्लपयेन्मन:
tathaiva yogavihitaṁ yat tu karma na sidhyati | upāyayukta medhāvī na tatra glapayen manaḥ ||
قال فيدورا: حتى إذا شُرِع في أمرٍ وفق مشورةٍ منضبطة ومنهجٍ سليم، فقد لا يبلغ تمامه. فإذا كان الحكيم قد استعمل الوسائل الصالحة بعناية، فلا ينبغي أن يُغرق قلبه في لوم النفس على تلك العاقبة.
विदुर उवाच
If one has acted with proper discipline and employed appropriate means thoughtfully, then even if the work fails, a wise person should not fall into guilt or mental dejection. The focus is on integrity of effort and method rather than anxiety over outcomes.
In the Udyoga Parva, Vidura offers ethical and political counsel during the tense pre-war negotiations. Here he instructs that failure despite careful, well-planned action should not lead to inner collapse; one should remain steady and continue to act wisely.
