samavekṣyeha dharmārthī sambhārān yo ’dhigacchati | sa vai sambhūta-sambhāraḥ satataṃ sukham edhate ||
Success and lasting prosperity come from thoughtful planning grounded in dharma and artha: first discern what is right and beneficial, then gather the necessary means; being properly prepared sustains well-being.
In Vidura’s counsel (nīti) during the Udyoga Parva, he offers practical-ethical guidance: a ruler or person should evaluate righteousness and practical advantage, then assemble the needed preparations for achieving aims, which leads to stable prosperity.
